PM will offer Anjali to Maa Durga this Ashtami in Kolkata, receives multiple invitations
An 82-year-old man allegedly died of a heart attack in West Bengal’s Kalna after his name did not appear in the supplementary voter list under the SIR process. The deceased has been identified as Ahmed Ali, a resident of Sultanpur area. His family claimed that the shock and anxiety caused by the omission of his name from the list led to his sudden death.
According to family members, Ahmed Ali’s name had earlier appeared in voter lists for many years, including the 2002 list, and he had regularly exercised his right to vote. They alleged that despite submitting all necessary documents during the verification process, his name was removed from the final list, which left him deeply distressed. His son Aziz Sheikh said the family had submitted the required documents after the name initially appeared in the pending list. However, when the supplementary list was published and Ahmed Ali’s name was still missing, he became extremely worried. The family claimed that he went to bed without eating that night and was found dead the next morning.
Neighbour Nur Alam Molla said Ahmed Ali had hoped his educational records and long voting history would help restore his name in the list. The family alleges that the anxiety and fear caused by the situation triggered the fatal heart attack.
